Janelle Sampson, Age 19, from Mahaut

From the city that never sleeps, Mahaut, comes a beautiful angel by the name of Janelle Sampson standing 5 ft. 5 in. and weighing 139 pounds. She is currently a teller at the bank of Nova Scotia but enjoys modeling, dancing and meeting new people in her spare time.
A graduate of the Convent High School and the Sixth Form College, Janelle hopes some day to work in the field of tourism. In the future she would also love to address the problems of her generation, especially in relation to the recent suicides among Dominica's youth.
Janelle believes that people can learn a lot from life's experiences. The challenge is how you handle the situation. Do you view it as a test, or a lesson? Janelle intends to use her time in the spotlight during this competition as an opportunity to prepare for a life in tourism related activities.
If she becomes Dominica's Carnival Queen, she intends to do her best to make her village and fellow Dominicans proud.

Velda Wade, age 23, Newtown
Miss Winera
Velda Wade considers herself to be a people person, a diverse individual, culturally minded and a lover of nature, children and elderly persons. She comes from Newtown by way of Grandbay/Montine.
At 23 years of age, and 5 ft. 6 in., she is the reigning National Miss. Wob Dwiyet and holds an accounting assistant position at Winera (Dominica) Ltd. Velda has participated in athletics where she was awarded several accolades. She is a stick Bwa Bwa walker and also a member of the Waitukubuli dance Theatre, the People's Action Theatre.
Her various activities have allowed her to perform in St. Lucia at the Derrick Walcott's Open Theatre and to take part in several theatrical productions as an actress and as a stage manager. At present she plays the role of Sheila on the Wake Up Call, the latest TV series on abused women.
Her future goal is to major in Caribbean culture promoting hospitality management arts and drama which will assist in promoting Dominica. She is fulfilling a childhood dream.

20-year old Natasha Bellot from Grand Bay. Natasha works as a Youth Development Assistant and is a former Miss Wob Dwiyet first runner-up. She enjoys poetry and cultural music. Miss Bellot hopes to become a geographer in the future.

Katherine Irish, 23, from Marigot, works as a clerk in the department of finance at Courts (Dominica) Ltd. Katherine's dream is to be a certified accountant. She enjoys reading, dancing and hiking. |

Syle Durand, 20, from Petite Soufriere, works as a cashier at the Number One store in Roseau. Her dream is to pursue studies in computering and to become an air hostess. She enjoys dancing. |

Vanessa Isles,18, from Trafalgar is employed at the Fort Young Hotel as a clerical assistant. She enjoys dancing, singing, writing poems and corresponding.
