Dive Fest 2004 was officially launched Saturday night when the Dominica Watersports Association took on the DBS Dream Team in a stunning football match held under the lights at Newtown Savannah.DWA v. DBS Dream Team

The DWA team was made up of players from various dive shops and hotels in Dominica involved in diving and tourism. The team does not practice together on a regular basis, but meets only once a year for this event. Pre-game hype had the DBS Dream Team as the favourites threatening to "do a Mexico," but the DWA team promised to put up a good fight.

With Ozzie Lewis and Alex Bruno on hand to do the commentating, the game got off to a surprising start when the DWA took an early lead, 1-0. DBS equalised and at half time the teams were even at 1-1. But the DBS defense couldn't hold the youth and vigour of the DWA team. With countless shots on goal, the DBS keeper Andy Carter was steadily bombarded. Despite several brilliant saves by Carter, the DWA mounted a huge onslaught in the final 20 minutes of the game scoring twice more and ending the match at the stunning result of 3-1. Carter's tremendous efforts in goal earned him the DBS Dream Team "Man of the Match" award which entitles him to a Scuba Diving Certification Course.

The match, co-sponsored by Kubuli and AT&T Wireless, also offered crowd participation. With the purchase of two Kubuli's, spectators entered a raffle to win a chance to shoot penalty kicks and win prizes. First place went to Sherlock Robinson of Loubiere, who won an AT&T Wireless Cell Phone. Second Prize, a case of Kubuli, went to Fadah of King's Hill, and the third place T-shirt prize was won by Laro of Citronier.

The event was broadcast live by DBS.

The Winners
The annual Quiz Competition for children from Grades 5 & 6 was said to be very difficult this year. The winning school was Pioneer Academy, a first-time attendee. For the winning efforts of the two-person team from Pioneer, the school will receive a computer donated by donated by Petit Coulibri Guest Cottages; this was a much-needed prize as the school currently has no computer.
Educational Boat Rides
Boat Rides
The main event of the day is boat rides in the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve where children experience the marine reserve area first-hand. Dive Dominica provided boats and staff to help with the event.

Children of all ages watched a slide show on Marine Research, presented by Marine Reserve Manager Izzy Madisetti. The slideshow focused on what happens when garbage goes into the sea, teaching children the effects of their actions on the marine environment.

SSMR Day is an annual event sponsored by Fisheries and the Soufriere/Scotts Head Village Council.

Sunset Wine & Cheese Cruise
One again, Cocorico Ltd, sponsored a night of fine wine and cheese-tasting during a sunset cruise aboard Dive Dominica's boat.

Cruisers sampled cheese and had the opportunity to taste eight different types of wine from Cocorico's collection of fine French Wines: Sparkling Wine, Rosé Wine, White Wine, and Red Wine.
