Friday Night, June 25th

Though it was a late entry to the Dive Fest schedule, the DWA vs. DBS Dream Team Football Match was the official kick-off event for Dive Fest 2005. The re-match to last year's DWA victory took place under the lights at Newtown Savanne.

The match was well fought by both sides but in the end, the DBS Dream Team scrambled to victory with a 7-5 win over the DWA Team.

The match was broadcast live on DBS radio.

Saturday, June 26th: SSMR DAY 2005
SSMR Day 2005
As with each SSMR Day for the past decade, school children from all across Dominica arrived in Soufriere this Saturday morning to visit the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve and learn about conservation and the marine environment.

SSMR Quiz

The annual SSMR Quiz was held on the lawn of the Soufriere Church. Each year, the competition gets stiffer and the children become more knowledgeable about Dominica's marine environment.

This year, it was the Woodford Hill Primary School winning the quiz and earning the coveted prize of a computer for their school. Each year, Petit Coulibri donates a PC as the prize for this contest. Second Place went to Atkinson School followed by Bagatelle School taking Third Place.

Boat Rides

All participants received a prize donated by local sponsors. This year the prizes were presented by the Hon. Ian Pinard, MP for Soufriere Constituency.

More than 750 school children participated in SSMR Day, representing many of Dominica's primary schools. Boat Rides in the Marine Reserve are always a favourite activity of the day!

The international media also attended SSMR Day 2005; a camera crew from CNN was filming during the day's activities.
