Dive Fest 2005 Activities Schedule

Saturday Afternoon, July 9th

The Kubuli Fish Fest took place Friday afternoon with a Lapo Kabwit Band and liming on the beach in Soufriere. Steamed fish, stewed fish, BBQ'd fish, Creole fish... fish, fish, fish was the theme of the day.

Saturday Night, July 9th: Soca Rum Beach Bash with the Swing Stars

As the Fish Fest cane to a close, the beach bash continued with Soca Rum and the Swing Stars. Revelers danced into the early hours of the morning, under the beautiful night sky and twinkling stars to the sounds & rhythms of one of Dominica's top bands, the Swing Stars.

Saturday Night, July 9th: Cocorico Wine & Cheese Cruise

While some celebrated on the beach, others took to the high seas for the ever-popular Cocorico Wine & Cheese Cruise, which departed from the Roseau Ferry Terminal at 8 pm. This event was sold out and an fabulous time was had by all.

Sunday, July 10th: The Kubuli Carib Canoe Race

Despite a few rain showers in the late afternoon, the 2005 Kubuli Carib Canoe Races were as fun-filled & exciting this year as ever.

Now in its 12th year, this is the Grand Finale Event of Dive Fest each year, hosted in the beautiful village of Soufriere in the Soufreire Scotts Head Marine Reserve.

A Rough Return

Corporate Teams were out in force once again and after four heats of races, plenty of bailing, and only one or two broken bits of oar locks, the Fort Young Hotel Team emerged as the 2005 Winners.

1st Place: Fort Young Hotel
2nd Place: Platinum Security
3rd place: Harris Paint

As always, plenty of prizes were earned by these tireless rowers.

The 1st Place Team received four cases of Kubuli, four Cable & Wireless Cell Phones and, of course, the coveted Trophy. 2nd Place Team won two cases of Kubuli, and the 3rd Place Team won one case of Kubuli.

Congratulations to all who participated in this event and thanks to all the sponsors, too!
