Tarina Simon was welcomed home in grand style on Monday evening.
From the moment she de-boarded the plane at Melville Hall Airport, she was swamped with thanks and adoration. The official motorcade took her through Wesley and Portsmouth in the north, then down the west coast through St. Jo, Salisbury, Mahaut, Canefield, Fond Cole and across the EC Loblank bridge to Roseau where she received the Keys to the City from Mayor Cecil Joseph. At last, Tarina reached the chanting crowd on the Bayfront where she gave thanks to God & all Dominicans and performed a few songs for her admiring fans including Electric Slide and of course, her theme song “Simply the Best.”

Tarina has just participated in Dominica’s 2008 Calypso Competition. She made it to the ‘Final 9’ with four former Calypso Monarchs among the competitors, but she wasn’t able to capitalise on the momentum of her Digicel Rising Star success.
