Located in the heights of Colihaut, not far from Segment 9 of the Waitukubuli National Trail, Kachibona Lake is one of Dominica's hidden treasures. It is a very small lake, but the lush rainforest setting is well worth the trek to enjoy this tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. Pack a lunch and sit on the bench while you listen to the birds and breathe some of the freshest air your lungs have ever experienced.

Kachibona is a small lake with a lot of history. Escaped slaves (called "negre mawon" in Creole) were said to have hidden in this area during the difficult times in the late 1700's and early 1800's. For more about the escaped slaves see the book Negre Mawon by Dr. Lennox Honychurch.
