Twenty-three-year-old Dana of Kings Hill describes herself as being bold, spontaneous and very distinct in all her approaches.
She attended the Convent Prep and attained a scholarship after writing the Common Entrance Exams to attend the Convent High School. Dana then moved to the Clifton Dupigny Community College (Academic Division) in 2002 where she studied Biology and Maths.
While at college, Dana was a tour guide for Fun Sun Incorporated. This stint allowed her to learn more about the island’s topography and history.
She also worked at DOMLEC as a casual employee for over a year. This helped her to gain experience in dealing with people on a professional level.
Dana is currently employed at Marpin Telecoms and Broadcasting Limited as an administrative clerk. However, her dream is to become a marine biologist.
Her fascination with the deep sea and its many creatures was heightened after going on a whale watching expedition.
“I am taking part in this year’s Carnival Queen Pageant because I believe I have a contribution to make towards the celebration,” she said.
Dana also sees this as a great opportunity for her to grow as an individual and to find out more about herself and her capabilities.
In her spare time, Dana enjoys reading, writing and listening to music from all eras and genre. She is very religious and spends hours reading about the customs and practices of many different religions.
Her sponsor is Harris Paints Dominica Limited.

Kimara Hurtault

Born under the Zodiac sign of Aries is 21-year-old Kimara Kelda Hurtault of Tarish Pit. She describes herself as being down to earth.
She attended the St. Martin Primary School and then moved on to the Wesley High School to complete her secondary education. She continued her education at the Clifton Dupigny Community College (Academic Division) where she majored in History and Sociology.
Kimara wants to become a qualified radio broadcast journalist and she is currently employed at Q95 FM radio station as an announcer/reporter.
She enjoys playing football, writing in her journal and spending time with her family.
She is fascinated with pageants and sees her participation in the Carnival Queen Show as a great opportunity to contribute to Carnival.
She is sponsored by Courts Dominica Limited.

Born on April 2, 1980, Kishma Vernel Carbon of Mahaut says she is exceptionally quiet and shy.
Kishma attended the Mahaut Government School before moving on to the St. Martin Secondary School.
This contestant has always dreamt of being crowned Miss Dominica.
Not entirely new to pageants, Kishma took part in the 2000 Summer Splash Swim Suit Competition and copped the third runner up position.
In her spare time Kishma enjoys surfing the Internet, reading romance novels, cooking and going to the beach. She also enjoys modelling and is a member of the Mannequin Dominique maudlin group.
Her career goal is to become an airhostess or an accountant.

LINTHEA AUGUSTINE
Linthea Augustine

Linthea Augustine was born on May 1, 1984 in the tranquil, scenic village of Vieille Case. She is described as being vibrant and optimistic.
Linthea attended the Vieille Case Primary School and Portsmouth Secondary School where she developed a deep love for science. She is now pursuing studies at the Dominica State College leading to an Associate Degree in Biology and Geography. According to her, this is the first step in achieving her dream of becoming Dominica’s first female Cardiologist.
She has participated in many athletic competitions and netball tournaments. Being an avid lover of the stage, she has displayed her talents in drama and she has organised and participated in fashion shows.
She enjoys visiting the sick, helping to beautify her village and being a member of her church choir.
She is sponsored by The National Lotteries Commission.

Michelle who hails from the community of Goodwill is 19 years old.
She describes herself as a fun loving individual who particularly enjoys socialising. Others describe her as friendly, responsible and outgoing. Michelle said she is also a caring person.
A former student of the St. Martin Primary School and the Dominica Grammar School, Michelle is also a graduate of the Clifton Dupigny Community College where she completed a two-year private diploma secretarial course.
It is her dream to become a pediatrician one day.
“I believe that in pursuing a career in the medical field, I can become an asset not only to my country but also to people all over the world. This would give me an opportunity to heal and nurture the children who will one day become the future leaders of Dominica,” she said.
In her leisure time, Michelle enjoys singing and surfing the internet. She also enjoys reading romance novels.
Presently she is employed as a Secretary at Nagico Insurance who is also her sponsor for the pageant.
She sees this pageant as exceptionally positive for young women and thinks it will boost her self confidence and showcase her talent.
If Michelle is crowned Miss Dominica, she plans to get young people more involved in community development work as she believes this will occupy their time and help them develop leadership qualities and a sense of love and respect for each other.

MINERVE LEWIS

Minerve Lewis

Minerve hails from the scenic village of Good Hope.
Born on August 25, 1983, she attended the San Sauver Primary School and the Dominica Grammar School where she completed her secondary education. She is a graduate of the Clifton Dupigny Community College where she majored in Accounts, Economics and French.
Minerve has a passion for languages, especially French which she writes and speaks fluently.
Her hobbies are dancing, chatting, reading and experimenting with cooking.
“The world to me is one big stage where people express themselves daily and I’ve been doing so from the day I was born,” she said.
Minerve’s pageant experience began with the Miss Noel contest where she was first runner up. She competed for the Miss Teen Dominica title twice.
One of her goals is to become a professional customer care consultant. She is fond of hard work and challenges.
“My few failures have only strengthened me in my quest to be the best at all that I do,” Minerve said.
She is employed as a receptionist at the Agricultural Industrial Development Bank which is also her sponsor for the competition.
“ I am taking part in this competition because I know that I have a great contribution to make towards carnival,” she said.
